Las actividades de selección de trabajos se regirán por el siguiente
cronograma:

* Fecha limite de recepción de propuestas: miércoles 1 de abril de 2010
* Notificación de aceptación de propuestas: miércoles 8 de abril de 2010
* Fecha límite para el envío de versiones finales: lunes 4 de mayo de 2010


Las condiciones para la presentación de trabajos para el ?Quinto Evento

The Fifth Network Security Event for Latin America and the Caribbean

framework of the thirteenth annual LACNIC meeting (LACNIC XIII). This is
the initial public call for presentations for the event.

In order to evaluate submitted contributions, an independent Evaluation
Committee has been created.

The following is a list of some of the topics that are of interest to
the event:

* Honeypots, network monitoring and Situational Awareness tools in general.
* Fighting spam, particularly attacking spam at its origin (SPF, DKIM
and related technologies, Email reputation).
* Fighting phising.
* Fighting malware.
* Internet protocol security.
* Computer Security Incident Response Teams: creation, management,
experiences.
* Network infrastructure services security (DNS, NTP, etc.).
* Response and mitigation of DoS/DDoS, botnets.
* Legal aspects of computer security.
* Authentication and access control.

The schedule for the selection of works will be the following:

As in previous years, and following with its policy of supporting the

regional community, LACNIC will be offering a limited number of

financial grants to members of the Internet community from LACNIC

service region interested in attending its annual meeting LACNIC XIII. On

this opportunity, the event will be held in Willemstad, Curaçao, 
Netherlands

Antilles, from May  16 - 21, 2010.

 
In order to benefit from the grants, the applications must be submitted

by 10 March, 2009.

      Taller Regional de Entrenamiento para Técnicos en Seguridad
      Informática

Dicha actividad será realizada en:

*Quito, Ecuador, entre los días 23 y 26 de marzo de 2010*,

La sede del encuentro será la Universidad Técnica Particular de Loja 
(UTPL).

Este taller está dirigido a profesionales en el área de Seguridad 
Informática interesados en capacitarse en la creación y gestión de 
CSIRTs. La preferencia será dada a los participantes de los siguientes 
países: Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Perú y Venezuela.


El curso de entrenamiento, de duración 36 horas,  consistirá en:

   1. Presentaciones por parte de especialistas;
   2. Seminarios presenciales que expliquen detalladamente la gestión de
      incidentes informáticos;
   3. Presentaciones de los participantes;
   4. Talleres (tipo Hands on) en el que se intente transferir
      conocimiento sobre metodologías y técnicas, así como la mejor
      utilización de herramientas;
   5. Mesas redondas con amplia participación.

Por razones logísticas, la cantidad de participantes al mismo estará

restringida, por lo que recomendamos confirme su asistencia lo antes 
posible.

DEPLOYMENT STATUS

KSR exchanges continue between development platforms at VeriSign
and ICANN. Test exchanges between production servers, exercising
regular operational staff and subject to production monitoring and
availability measurements is scheduled to begin on 2010-03-01.

Build-out of KSK Key Ceremony facilities at ICANN continues, and
both facilities (east- and west-coast USA) are expected to be ready
on schedule.

The incremental deployment of DNSSEC in the Root Zone is being
carried out first by serving a Deliberately-Unvalidatable Root Zone
(DURZ), and subsequently by a conventionally-signed root zone.
Discussion of the approach can be found in the document "DNSSEC
Deployment for the Root Zone", as well as in the technical presentations
delivered at RIPE, NANOG, IETF and ICANN meetings.

L-Root made the transition to the DURZ on 2010-01-27, and A-Root
did the same on 2010-02-10. No harmful effects of either transition
have been identified. Some early analysis of packet captures from
many root servers surrounding each event was recently presented at
NANOG 48 in Austin, Texas, USA and can be found with other presentation
materials at <http://www.root-dnssec.org/presentations/>.

Those who are tracking the impact of the DURZ transition on root
servers should note that the maintenance window for the M-Root DURZ
transition has changed to 2010-03-03 0600--0800 UTC, two hours later
than was originally advised. This change has been reflected in the
deployment plan, which can be found with other project documentation
at <http://www.root-dnssec.org/documentation/>.


PLANNED DEPLOYMENT SCHEDULE

 2010-02-10: A starts to serve DURZ

To come:

 2010-03-03: M, I start to serve DURZ

   zone; publication of root zone trust anchor
