<p> <b>La Casa de Internet de Latinoamérica y el Caribe, 10 de
junio</b>.- El Registro de Direcciones de Internet para América
Latina y el Caribe (LACNIC), responsable de la asignación de
recursos para esta región, anunció hoy el agotamiento del stock de
direcciones IPv4 y expresó su preocupación por la demora de
operadores y gobiernos en desplegar el protocolo de Internet
(IPv6) en la región.</p>
<p> LACNIC informó hoy que al haber alcanzado la cota de 4.194.302
direcciones IPv4 en su stock, comienzan a regir políticas
restrictivas para la entrega de recursos de Internet en el
continente, que en la práctica significan el agotamiento de las
direcciones de IPv4 para los operadores de redes en América Latina
y el Caribe.</p>
<p> "Estamos frente a un hecho histórico que no por ser esperado y
anunciado, es menos importante", afirmó el CEO de LACNIC, Raúl
Echeberría, "a partir de hoy LACNIC y los Registros Nacionales
sólo podrán asignar cantidades muy pequeñas de direcciones IPv4,
insuficientes para cubrir las necesidades de nuestra región." La
organización lleva entregadas más de 186 millones de direcciones
IPv4 en América Latina y el Caribe desde el inicio de sus
operaciones en 2002.<br>

recursos para essa região, anunciou hoje o esgotamento do estoque
dos endereços IPv4 e expressou sua preocupação pela demora dos
operadores e governos em implementar o protocolo da Internet
(IPv6) na região.</p>
<p> LACNIC informou hoje que tendo atingido os 4.194.302 endereços
IPv4 em seu estoque, entram em vigor políticas restritivas para a
entrega de recursos da Internet no continente, que na prática
significam o esgotamento dos endereços do IPv4 para os operadores
de redes na América Latina e o Caribe.</p>
<p> "Estamos diante de um fato histórico que não por ser esperado e

<h1> <small>No more IPv4 addresses in Latin America and the
Caribbean</small></h1>
<h3> <small>Latin America and the Caribbean have entered the IPv4
exhaustion phase; the delay in deploying Internet Protocol
version 6 in our region is cause for concern.</small></h3>
<p><strong>La Casa de Internet de Latinoamérica y el Caribe, 10
June.-</strong> Today, the Internet Address Registry for Latin
America and the Caribbean (LACNIC), the organization responsible
for assigning Internet resources in the region, announced the
exhaustion of its IPv4 address pool and expressed its concern
regarding the fact that operators and governments throughout the
region are delaying the deployment of Internet Protocol version 6
(IPv6).</p>
<p> LACNIC reported that its pool of available IPv4 addresses
reached the 4.194.302 mark, and that this has triggered stricter
Internet resource assignment policies for the continent. In
practice, this means that IPv4 addresses are now exhausted for
Latin American and Caribbean operators.</p>
<p> "This is an historic event; the fact that it was anticipated and
announced doesn't make it any less significant," said Raúl
Echeberría, LACNIC's CEO. "From now on, LACNIC and its National
Registries will only be able to assign very small numbers of IPv4
addresses, and these will not be enough to satisfy our region's
needs." Since it began operating in 2002, the organization has
assigned more than 182 million IPv4 addresses throughout Latin
America and the Caribbean.<br>
