OEA e INCIBE organizan 1er Foro Internacional de Género y Ciberseguridad

La Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA) y el Instituto Nacional de
Ciberseguridad de España (INCIBE) han inaugurado hoy su “I Foro
Internacional de Género y Ciberseguridad: creando un mundo digital más
inclusivo v1.0”

Esta actividad se llevará a cabo los días 5 y 6 de junio de 2017 en el
Auditorio Ciudad de León, y cuenta también con el apoyo del gobierno de
Canadá.

Esta iniciativa es uno de los esfuerzos que la Secretaría del Comité
Interamericano contra el Terrorismo (CICTE), a través del Programa de
Ciberseguridad

ha venido promoviendo para el fortalecimiento de las capacidades
cibernéticas a nivel hemisférico. Durante estos dos días la OEA e INCIBE se
han trazado promover el intercambio de información y el desarrollo de
conocimientos sobre género y ciberseguridad; Analizar la situación actual y
problemática de género tanto a nivel nacional como internacional en
relación al sector de la ciberseguridad y; Debatir sobre los principales
problemas en relación a la violencia de género en el ámbito digital.

Ideli Salvatti, Secretaria de Acceso Derechos y Equidad de la OEA, enfatizó
en que Fomentar la diversidad de género en ciberseguridad contribuirá no
sólo para el desarrollo de una fuerza de trabajo más calificada, sino
también más preparada para ayudar a afrontar y solucionar las amenazas a la
que todas nuestras naciones se encuentran expuestas. De igual forma,
mencionó que es esencial tener en cuenta las diferentes repercusiones que
tienen las amenazas cibernéticas y la ciberdelincuencia tanto en hombres
como mujeres, buscando formular campañas de sensibilización y herramientas
para que las mujeres puedan protegerse en línea y alcanzar todo su
potencial en el mundo digital.

Por su parte, José María Lassale, Secretario de Estado para la Sociedad de
la Información y la Agenda Digital, ha destacado la importancia de
incorporar a la evolución tecnológica conceptos como “ciberdiversidad,
ciberrespeto y ciberética” y ha calificado de preocupantes y casi
vergonzosos los porcentajes que reflejan el peso de la mujer en la
transformación digital.

Del mismo modo, ha señalado que otro de los aciertos de este Foro es el
hecho de que aborda la perspectiva de género tanto en el ámbito profesional
de la ciberseguridad como en el ámbito de los ciberdelitos, especialmente
contra mujeres y niñas que son las principales víctimas.

Este Foro es la primera iniciativa de otros esfuerzos más que la OEA
invertirá en asuntos relacionados a género y ciberseguridad, los cuales
fueron presentados la semana pasada durante la reunión anual del Foro
Global de Experticia Cibernética (GFCE, por sus siglas en inglés).

Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE) inaugurated their "1st International
Workshop on Gender and Cybersecurity: Creating a more inclusive digital

This activity took place on June 5 and 6, 2017 in Leon, Spain with the
support of the Government of Canada.

This is one of the initiatives that the Secretariat of the Inter-American
Committee against Terrorism (CICTE), has been promoting through its
Cybersecurity
Program

for the strengthening of cybersecurity capabilities at the hemispheric
level. During these two days, the OAS and INCIBEworked together to: promote
the exchange of information and the development of knowledge on gender and
cybersecurity; analyze the current situation and issues related to gender
both at the national and international level specifically related to the
cybersecurity sector; and discuss the main problems related to gender
violence in the digital field.

Ideli Salvatti, OAS Secretary for Access to Rights and Equity (SARE),
emphasized that fostering gender diversity in cybersecurity would
contribute to the development of not only a more qualified workforce, but
also one that is more prepared to address and solve the threats to which
all our nations are exposed. She also mentioned that it is essential to
take into account the different impact that cyber threats and
cybercrime have on both men and women, in order to formulate awareness
campaigns and tools so that women can be protected online and reach their
full potential in the digital world.

José Maria Lassale, Secretary of State for Information Society and Digital
Agenda, stressed the importance of incorporating concepts such as
"cyberdiversity, cyberrespect and cyberethics" into the evolution of
technology, and described the percentages that reflect the weight of women
in the digital transformation as worrying and almost shameful.

Similarly, he pointed out that another of the successes of this Workshop is
the fact that it addresses the gender perspective both in the professional
sphere of cybersecurity and in the field of cybercrime, especially against
women and girls who are the main victims.

This Workshop is the first initiative among other OAS efforts to invest in
gender and cybersecurity issues, which were presented last week during the
Annual Meeting of the Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE).
