Subject: Saving money with IPv6

I've now seen two examples of vendors who are willing to offer a discount
for IPv6 users. Mythic Beasts, a small virtual hosting company in England,
started doing it a few months ago; they provide a 29% break for v6-only
virtual private servers: https://www.mythic-beasts.com/servers/virtual

Just today I heard about a somewhat larger vendor offering a free v6
address for a service where v4 addresses are chargeable:
http://googlecloudplatform.blogspot.com/2014/11/cloudsql-instances-now-come-with-free-ipiv6-address.html

It isn't a big discount; the existing pricing charges a penny an hour for
the v4 address, and only when the instance is idle; that's a max of only
$87.66 a year if you were idle 100% of the time (in which case, what's the
point?) But if you had an implementation with hundreds of instances, it
could add up; in any case, everything that makes the point that v4 is
becoming rare and v6 is plentiful is a good thing, in my book.

Bill.
