[LACNIC/Seguridad] [Fwd: RFC 5927 on ICMP Attacks against TCP]

Estimados,

Se acaba de publicar el RFC 5927, "ICMP Attacks against TCP".

Los contenidos del RFC fueron discutidos hasta el cansancio :-). Sin
embargo, el tema es interesante por ej. en cursos de seguridad en redes,
ya que el tema es simple y facil de entender, existen herramientas para
demostrar los ataques, etc.

El documento en cuestión fue el producto de 6 años (!) de trabajo, y,
mas alla del tiempo dedicado a escribirlo y discutirlo, durante el
transcurso de dicho tiempo se fueron dando una cantidad de situaciones,
algunas buenas (principalmente en lo academico/laboral fuera de mi
pais), y una cantidad de situaciones desagradables (dentro de mi pais, y
en particular dentro de mi propia Facultad). Por tal motivo, mas alla
del contenido, el RFC tiene un valor especial para mi (basicamente,
hacer algo en un contxto desfavorable).

Aprovecho la oportunidad para agradecer a quienes de algun modo
terminaron haciendo posible mi trabajo en este y otros documentos, o
bien me dieron la posibilidad de divulgarlos, relacionarme con gente que
contribuyó a continuar aprendiendo, o simplemente se prestaron a
discusiones tecnicas que terminaron siendo enriquecedoras.

De nuestra region, en particular, me gustaria agradecer a toda la gente
de LACNIC, a Carlos Martinez, Roque Gagliano (ex-lacnic) y Daniel
Bellomo, quienes de manera concreta apoyaron mi trabajo en varias
oportunidades.

P.S.: El trabajo no es "grandioso" como para tanto espamento... pero por
lo pronto sirvio como excusa para agradecerle publicamente a la gente
anterioremente mencionada. ;-)

describes a number of widely implemented modifications to TCP's
handling of ICMP error messages that help to mitigate these issues.
