Hi Fernando,

I don't think the reason is the /48, but actually very big ISPs in Europe, covering several countries (Telefonica, Orange, BT, DT, etc.). Some of them got even /19.

Also, the deployment by governments. Some governments got even up to /24.

But most of the "consumption" I think is due to the default /32, as we have many many many ISPs here, and each one can have different LIRs. So even a small ISP can have different LIR accounts and each one will get (in the actual phase) a /22 for IPv4 and /32 (which can be upgraded up to /29) for IPv6.

LACNIC, as well as all the other RIRs, do sparse-allocation.

If I recall correctly, most of the time 3 bits are reserved, so you have a lot of space to growth if needed. So you can get up to /29, at least, without a new prefix.

Saludos,
Jordi

    Hello Jordi

Just to not miss the opportunity to comment on this, I just hope this
was not due to ISPs assigning /48 to residential users indistinctly and
in return making RIRs having to allocate extra /32 to ISPs.

In any case I leave a question here: Does anyone known if when a RIR/NIR
allocates an extra /32 to ISPs is is normally reserved the next one or
    not necessarily ?

    Regards
    Fernando
