VI Workshop pre-IETF (WPIETF):

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is an international
community interested in fulfilling the mission of defining standards
that impact the design, use and management of Internet resources
[RFC3935 (http://www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3935.txt)]. The process of
establishing standards for the Internet is long, complex and requires
active participation, particularly of students and researchers. There
are many people around the world actively contributing to the IETF,
however there is a growing need for more fresh participation.

The attendance from the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region
has been relatively low, due to many potential candidates not knowing
about the IETF or not having real incentives to participate. To change
this reality, a group of volunteers emerged from the “IETF – LAC list”
building the WPIETF workshop, aiming to improve the LAC region
presence in the IETF processes. Besides disseminating information
about the IETF, it is important to provide an environment that allows
our technicians, students and researchers to show their proposals, in
advance to any IETF meeting. The papers presented at the workshop will
be adapted or supplemented if necessary, and forwarded to the IETF,
with effective support (by the Committee Pos-Workshop).

The VI WPIETF 2019 is a two-day event hosted as part of the XXXIX
Brazilian Computer Society Congress (CSBC) 2019 in Belém, Para, Brazil
(http://csbc2019.sbc.org.br). Also, the author of the best paper at
the VI WPIETF 2019 will have all travel and participation costs at the
IETF106 in Singapore sponsored by Huawei.
