Hello everyone,

We are coordinating with Renata to focus the meeting in two subjects:

1. The election to appoint the next co-chair of the Public Policy Forum will be held in March. Gianina Pensky, Policy Officer at lacnic, along with Renata's moderation will be telling us about the responsabilities, what it means to be a chair, and how to apply for the spot.

2. The call for presentations for lacnic's technical forums at LACNIC 27 is now open. We have invited Azael Fernandez, Fabian Mejia and Fernando Gont, current chairs of the forums to chat about what are they looking for and what is the selection process like.

You also proposed nominating Olga Cavalli for the Hall of Fame, so we'll get into that as well.

Date: Thursday, March 2nd, 3pm UTC

If you all agree we can schedule to keep our meetings on Thursdays, last week of the month. I'll always send an email a week before for confirmation and further details.

Con respecto a la agenda,

Estamos coordinando con Renata para focalizar esta reunión en dos proyectos de lacnic que estarán definiéndose en el próximo mes.

1. La elección de moderador de foro de políticas que se llevara a cabo en el mes de Marzo. Gianina Pensky, Oficial de políticas de lacnic, con la moderación de Renata nos estará contando sobre las responsabilidades de esta figura, su rol en la comunidad y como es el proceso de postulación.

2. LLamado a presentaciones de trabajo de los foros técnicos para LACNIC 27. Invitaremos a Azael Fernandez, Fabian Mejia y Fernando Gont, moderadores actuales de los foros para conversar sobre cuales son los temas sobre los cuales están buscando recibir presentaciones y como es el proceso de selección.

Por otro lado, habían propuesto la postulación de Olga Cavalli al Hall of Fame.

LACNIC reconoce la trayectoria de líderes de Internet en la región

LACNIC abre la convocatoria a nominar candidatos para el Premio Trayectoria edición 2017. Este premio  está destinado a distinguir a las personas que han contribuido sostenidamente al desarrollo permanente de Internet y la Sociedad de la Información en la región de América Latina y el Caribe.

La convocatoria se encontrará abierta del lunes 13 de febrero al viernes 10 de marzo, 2017. No se aceptarán nominaciones pasada la fecha de cierre de la convocatoria.

Esta distinción se otorga anualmente desde el año 2009 a personas de la comunidad de Internet, que hayan producido contribuciones relevantes de manera sostenida en beneficio del desarrollo de Internet y la Sociedad de la Información en América Latina y el Caribe.

Con el propósito de fomentar y articular esfuerzos colaborativos en la región, el directorio de LACNIC considera importante distinguir a aquellas personas que han dedicado su esfuerzo a estos objetivos por largo tiempo, por sus logros concretos y por el ejemplo que significan para el resto de la comunidad.

En el 2017 el Jurado del Premio Trayectoria estará conformado por: Ida Holz, Rodrigo de la Parra, Rafael Ibarra, Ben Petrazzini, Carolina Aguerre, Serby Wilson y Jesús Martinez.

LACNIC honors the lifetime achievements of the region's Internet leaders

LACNIC announces the opening of the candidate nominations period for the 2017 edition of the Lifetime Achievement Award, the purpose of which is to recognize those individuals that have contributed to the permanent development of the Internet and the Information Society in the region of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The call for nominations will be open from Monday February 13 to Friday March 10, 2017. No applications will be accepted passed this deadline.

Since 2009, this honor is presented each year to members of the Internet community who have consistently produced relevant contributions in benefit of the development of the Internet and the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In order to promote and articulate collaborative efforts throughout the region, LACNIC's Board of Directors believes it is important to honor these individuals for their longstanding, dedicated efforts towards the attainment of these goals and for the example they set to the rest of the community.

The 2017 Lifetime Achievement Award judging panel will be made up by: Ida Holz, Rodrigo de la Parra, Rafael Ibarra, Ben Petrazzini, Carolina Aguerre, Serby Wilson and Jesús Martinez.
