The award is an initiative of LACNIC that since 2009 *distinguishes 
professionals with trajectory in the Internet ecosystem of Latin America 
and the Caribbean*, *promoting values such as innovation and the 
promotion of a common vision for the development of the Internet in the 
region*. It highlights the achievements of professionals who have 
fostered the collaborative model of the Internet and who have worked in 
fields such as Internet governance, the development of technical 
capacities, the promotion of the use and development of Internet 
standards and the promotion of the digital economy in the region.
