And I am also looking forward to their position, as I also have some market
research—oops, "academic" research—that I need to do and would really like
to submit to the LACNOG folks.

It's very easy for anyone to come here and say they're doing "academic
research." So let's see: what is the institution, who is the advising
professor, who do I contact to find out what it is and how it is being
conducted, and with what objective?

I think people should understand that there is a time and a place for
everything, and I sincerely wouldn't like to see this kind of freedom being
taken by list members, given that until now it has maintained a level of
seriousness and a single purpose, clearly seen by the quality of messages
it receives.

It would be a pity if, starting from your "academic research", more
"researchers" started sending "surveys" here on the list.

That is my message. Feel free to disagree!
