[LAC-TF] World IPv6 Day - Día Mundial de Internet

En Diciembre del 2003 me reuní con Jordi Palet en Ginebra y le propuse organizar un curso de IPv6 junto con la reunión de LACNIC VI en Montevideo en el 2004. 

Jordi me hizo notar en aquel momento que eramos el primer RIR en tener una actividad de ese tipo, algo que luego se volvió muy normal. Desde aquel entonces hemos contado con el apoyo y compromiso de mucha gente, incluyendo por supuesto al propio Jordi, en la promoción de IPv6 y en las actividades de capacitación. 

Cuando en 2004 comenzamos a organizar los IPv6 Tours y creamos el FLIP-6 este día parecía muy lejano.

Hoy, todos los esfuerzos que hemos hecho en todos estos años dan sus frutos. Nos complace y gratifica ver la cantidad de gente en la región que  está involucrada en este cambio tecnológico de Internet, recuperando los valores de cooperación y colaboración que han sido la base fundamental del desarrollo y el éxito de Internet por años. 

Es con beneplácito que vemos hoy decenas de actividades y eventos que se están organizando en la región sobre IPv6, mayoría de los cuales son liderados por gente perteneciente a nuestra comunidad más cercana. 


En el Día Mundial de IPv6, saludamos esta fantástica iniciativa de la Internet Society, ISOC,  que nos muestra lo importante de la creación de comunidades, la cooperación y el trabajo colaborativo en Internet.

In December 2003 I met Jordi Palet in Geneva and I proposed to him to organize an IPv6 workshop during LACNIC VI in April 2004. 
He pointed out at that time that LACNIC was the first RIR in organizing an activity like that. Since 2004 we have received the contribution of many people, including Jordi of course, for organizing a lot of promotion and training activities on IPv6 

When in 2004 we started to organize the IPv6 Tour and we created the FLIP-6, we didn't envision a day like Today. Now, we can see the results of all the efforts made during many years. I am very glad to see the number of people involved in IPv6 adoption initiatives in the region bringing back the spirit of cooperation and collaboration that has been a key factor in the development and success of the Internet for many years. 

We are also very happy to see the high number of activities that are being organized today across the region and to realize that most of them are leaded by people that belong to our community. 

In the Wold IPv6 day we congratulate Internet Society, ISOC, for this impressive initiative that reinforce the value of creating communities and the value of the cooperation and collaboration on the Internet.
