[LACNIC/Napla] Governments goals - eLAC 2010

Dear Friends,

I attended the meeting eLAC 2010 in El Salvador last week. There,  
with a team of fellows staff members of LACNIC we discussed several  
goals that the government will try to implement before 2010 that are  
relevant to our community.

The goals that I am referring to says:

Goal 14 - Promote the development of infrastructure in each country  
and in the region,
fostering the deployment of traffic nodes, the installation of copies  
of root servers
and local content hosting, with the object of improving the network’s  
quality and
stability and reducing access costs.

Goal 24 - Maintain the working group on infrastructure, which will  
support the preparation of
studies at the national and regional levels to define the best  
options for the
development of infrastructure to meet the requirements of local or  
regional traffic
flow more efficiently, ensure the continuity of interconnection  
services and
exchange experiences regarding the impact of ICT convergence.

I believe this are good news, particularly for those that are looking  
for gov. support to set your IXP up!.

el despliegue de puntos de intercambio de tráfico, la instalación de  
copias de
servidores raíz y el alojamiento local de contenidos, con el fin de  
mejorar la calidad
y estabilidad de la red y reducir los costos de acceso.

Meta 24 - Mantener el grupo de trabajo sobre infraestructura. Dicho  
grupo apoyará la
realización de estudios a nivel nacional y regional que permitan  
definir las mejores
opciones de desarrollo de infraestructura para satisfacer de la forma  
más eficiente
las necesidades de flujo de tráfico y de continuidad de los servicios de
interconexión e intercambiar experiencias sobre el impacto de las  
convergencias de
las TIC.
