Estimados amigos:

LACNIC se encuentra ya en las ultimas etapas del proceso de transición con 
miras a ser reconocido como el Registro Regional de Internet para América 
Latina y Caribe.

Hace un tiempo,  en febrero del 2000,  el equipo de trabajo de LACNIC 
elaboró un primer documento de políticas como referencia para la  etapa de 
transición.

En este momento, es intención de LACNIC comenzar la discusión de este 
documento con el objetivo de llegar a nuestro próximo Encuentro Público de 
Políticas y 3ª. Reunión Anual de LACNIC, eventos que se realizarán en 
Ciudad de México los días 11 y 12 de noviembre, con un documento final a 
ser aprobado como el primer documento oficial de políticas a aplicar en la 
región de LACNIC.


Con este motivo, en los próximos días, coordinado por Germán Valdez, 
Miembro del Directorio de LACNIC, se comenzará en esta lista la discusión 
correspondiente.

Dear friends:

LACNIC is currently in the last stages of the transition process in order 
to be recognized as regional Internet Registry for Latin America and the 
Caribbean.

Back in February 2002, LACNIC’s work team issued the first document of 
policies as a reference for the transition process.

At this moment, LACNIC intends to start the discussion of this 
document.  The objective is to have a final draft of this document ready 
for approval during our coming Open Policy Meeting and LACNIC’s Third 
Annual Meeting, both to be held in Mexico City on November 11 to 12, 
2002.  This will be our first official document containing the policies to 
be applied in LACNIC region.

With this objective, the discussion list will be opened in the coming days 
under the coordination of German Valdez, LACNIC Board member.  We encourage 
everyone to read the current draft published in LACNIC’s website:
