Dear colleagues,
We would like to inform that the policy proposal "LAC-2009-08 Internet
Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) Policy for Allocation of ASN Blocks
(ASNs) to Regional Internet Registries" has been ratified by LACNIC’s
Board of Directors on February 22nd 2010, being then effective as of
the mentioned date.
With this, the expeditious process for this proposal is completed.
Section 8.4 of the Policies Text will be updated to reflect these changes.
As a reminder, I am attaching the policy:
Policy Proposal Title: Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA)
Policy for Allocation of ASN Blocks (ASNs) to Regional Internet
Registries.
Proposal Summary: According to the current Global Policy for
Allocation of ASN Blocks to Regional Internet Registries, IANA will
cease to make any distinction between 16 bit and 32-bit only ASN
blocks by 31 December 2009, when making allocations to RIRs. This
proposal is to extend this date by one year, to 31 December 2010.
