LACNIC RPKI Project and Beta version of Resource Certification System

The Resource Certification project establishes a public key
infrastructure (PKI) commonly known as RPKI (Resource Public Key
Infrastructure) that combines the hierarchy of the Internet resource
assignment model through Regional Registries (RIRs) or National
Registries and the use of digital certificates based on the X509 standard.

The goal of this project is to issue cryptographic material that will
allow LACNIC members to digitally prove their right to use both IPv4 and
IPv6 addresses as well as Autonomous System Numbers (ASN).

The Beta version of the Resource Certification System was presented and
issued during LACNIC XIII meeting. The application is the result of
three years of design and planning plus one year of technical work, and
it is the first time the LACNIC Resource Certification System is
introduced to end-users.

Proyecto RPKI de LACNIC y versión Beta del Sistema de Certificación de
Recursos.

LACNIC ha instalado en su página principal un acceso directo a
información más detallada sobre el proyecto RPKI y sobre el Sistema Beta
de Certificación de Recursos.

El proyecto de certificación de recursos establece una infraestructura
de clave pública (o PKI) comúnmente llamada RPKI (Resource Public Key
Infraestructure). Esta infraestructura combina la jerarquía del modelo
de asignación de recursos de Internet a través de Registros Regionales
(RIRs) o Registros Nacionales con el uso de certificados digitales
basados en la norma X509.

El objetivo de este proyecto es la emisión de material criptográfico que
permita a los miembros de LACNIC demostrar digitalmente que poseen el
derecho de uso tanto de direcciones IPv4 e IPv6 como de Números de
Sistemas Autónomos (ASN).

En el evento de LACNIC XIII se realizó la presentación y la liberación
de versión beta del Sistema de Certificación de Recursos. Este sistema
es el producto de tres años de concepción y planificación más un año
efectivo de labores técnicas y se constituye en el primer acercamiento
entre el sistema de certificación de recursos de LACNIC y los usuarios
finales.
